Imagine a future America, where a group of journalists embedded within the military are in a desperate race against time. They must reach Washington, D.C., before insurgent factions take over the White House, journeying across a war-torn America.

This is not just a story, but, given the USA's political landscape, a possible future: a cautionary tale. This adrenaline-fuelled film from director Alex Garland (Ex Machina, Annihilation) shows us dystopia, but not as we usually see it on the big screen. There are no zombies here, no humans-turned-monsters by terrifying viruses. What we find in Civil War is people, as we know them, in a dystopia that is, at times, a little too close to reality.

There are stand-out performances from well-loved actors: Kirsten Dunst, in a role the likes of which we have never seen from her before, bringing some of the best work in her career. There's also Cailee Spaeny, seen in this year's biopic, Priscilla, and Wagner Moura, known for his role as Pablo Escobar in Netflix's Narcos. Whether you're interested in its action-packed scenes of violence, its tense telling of American politics, or the stellar cast's fantastic performances, don't miss Civil War

Tashi, a tennis player turned coach (played by a glowing Zendaya), has transformed her husband from a mediocre player into a world-famous grand slam champion. To jolt him out of his recent losing streak, she makes him play a challenger event—close to the lowest level of tournament on the pro tour. Tensions soon run high when he finds himself standing across the net from the once-promising, now burnt-out Patrick, his former best friend and Tashi's former boyfriend.
